When 24 hours delivery isn’t
By Tim | February 25, 2009
As a part of leaving and starting afresh I’ve initiated purchasing a new laptop. A new Macbook Pro, as I’ve been a Pro user for nearly two years now, and today as back then, when I went searching for good spec light weight laptops I found the Macbook Pro came out ahead of Dell and Sony possibilities.
But I use the word initiate because that’s all that has happened thus far. Despite the Apple UK store saying delivery within 24 hours on it’s opening page my order (admittedly placed through the education store) is currently awaiting confirmation of a definite delivery date, 36 hours after being ordered. In fact I am quoted 3 business days for delivery, but the product not arriving until 9th/10th March (really can’t quite work out the maths here…..)
Now the only prerequisite from Apple for purchasing via the education store is that the order must be placed from a PC coming from an ac.uk domain, otherwise you don’t even get access to the store. So how come the time delay? Surely in an electronic age as this it doesn’t take 8 clear working days to process any checks on the validity of your order and dispatch the product.
Update 25th Feb 10am
The order has after 48 hours reached ‘Prepared for shipment’ status…..
Further update 26th Feb 22:25pm
Does this statement seem to match the actual 3 business days delivery? Are we on the same planet? Unless of course time is slowed down in the Apple Universe and I’m just imagining the days passing……
